Luis Suarez plays for the Liverpool Football Club in the Premier League. He is the team's striker, and biter. In a match played against fellow Premier League opponent Chelsea on April 21st of this year, Suarez bit an opponent on the forearm. The opponent was Branislav Ivanovic. Ivanovic poked the ball away from Suarez, where then the two got tangled up thanks to Suarez and the bite occurred. Since this occurrence happened away from the ball and the referee's view, Suarez was not penalized during the game. For now, he has been suspended for eight games and fined 40,000 euros(Guardian). Suarez has since apologized to Ivanovic saying,"I've spoken to Ivanovic on the phone and I could apologize directly to him."(BBC) This is not the first time Suarez has gotten a little hungry during a match. When Suarez played for Ajax, a Dutch team, he bit a player during a match in 2011. He was suspended for seven games.(Independent) Despite these recent occurrences, Suarez' manager and sponsor Adidas have stood by him. He's a fantastic player, top scorer and everything we'd want in a striker."(Independent) said Managing Director Ian Ayre. Although Suarez is safe for now, continuing these actions will put his job into jeopardy. Maybe at halftime he needs to consume his orange slices and Capri-Suns.
